Privacy Policy
13 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how IPScanner collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the Service, you consent to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide, such as your name, email address, billing information, and content you send through our support channels.
2. Usage Data
We collect technical and behavioral data such as IP lookup history, timestamps, request patterns, browser info, and referral sources for analytics, abuse prevention, and feature optimization. We may also record on-site session activity — such as pages viewed, clicks, and mouse movements — using third-party analytics tools to understand how the Service is used and improve usability.
3. How We Use Information
We use your data to: (a) operate and improve the Service, (b) process billing, (c) respond to support requests, (d) prevent abuse, and (e) send transactional emails. We never sell your data.
4. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party processors to operate the Service, including Polar (payments and subscription billing, acting as merchant of record), Cloudflare (network and security), email delivery providers, and analytics platforms. These vendors are contractually required to handle your data securely and lawfully.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above or as required by law. Logs related to abuse or fraud may be retained longer.
6. Security
We use encryption, access controls, and monitoring systems to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
7. GDPR (EU/EEA & UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR apply to your personal data. For the purposes of this regulation, IPScanner acts as the data controller for account and usage data, and as a data processor for data you submit when performing lookups via the API.
8. Legal Bases for Processing
We process personal data under the following lawful bases: (a) performance of a contract, to provide the Service you sign up for; (b) legitimate interests, to secure, maintain and improve the Service and prevent abuse; (c) legal obligation, to comply with applicable law; and (d) consent, where required, which you may withdraw at any time.
9. Your GDPR Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to: access your personal data; rectify inaccurate data; erase your data ("right to be forgotten"); restrict or object to processing; data portability; and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the EU) or the Information Commissioner's Office (in the UK).
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure an adequate level of protection.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it.
12. Changes to Privacy Policy
We may revise this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes by email or a notice on our site.
